Cheney Tardio learned from a young age to clarify that her first name was not based on any sort of political affiliation. When not defending her given name, she spends her time watching movies and then reading the books on which they were based, preparing for a zombie attack, missing her 9 year-old siblings at home while she studies Film at Illinois State University, crocheting 10 foot-long scarves for her boyfriend, and playing in parks or in the snow, depending on the season, with her close friends. She loves all things British, even though she readily admits she is probably too old for Harry Potter and too young for Alan Rickman. Her first memory of sharing a piece of her writing dates back to the age of 12, when Cheney wrote a poem titled “The Wee Ones” that celebrated the birth of her triplet siblings. Family members’ reactions to the poem were so fascinating and ego-inflating that Cheney continued to write for the next ten years. A short poem about the separation of her parents won an award and the honor of being published when she was in high school and started the trend of Cheney writing honest and sometimes embarrassing pieces about her family life. Although she is to graduate in the spring with a Theatre and Cinema Studies degree, Cheney hopes most to write in her future.
