Jessica Perez was born and raised in Aurora, Illinois. She lived in the same house until she was twenty years old. Jesse never even left the Midwest until she was fifteen years old! She always had a knack for writing, but never developed her craft. Finally when she was twenty-one years old she ventured out into the world leaving behind everything she knew for the tiny town of Normal, Illinois, and the very big school of Illinois State University. She thought she’d be studying International Public Relations.
Though Normal was very similar to many other towns, it held a world of possibility for Jesse. In her second semester she hopped onto her very first plane and flew twenty-three hours to another tiny town in South Korea. After studying abroad for four months Jesse realized exactly what she didn’t want to do, and that was International PR. She’d always enjoyed writing, and had been told she had a natural knack for storytelling; so to escape the ghastly world of PR she enrolled in a creative writing class.
This is the class that opened up a world of possibilities. As a result of encouraging peer and professorial feedback she began her journey as a writer. She hasn’t stop writing since. Jesse continues to discover her styles and passions and hopes to go onto graduate studies in creative writing.
