~Jane L. Carman~

Jane writes Truth as she sees it, dark and inviting and admires the vague reality of Dostoyevsky, the sad beauty of Plath, Shakespeare and countless others. She is a peculiar mix of worlds at odds, mother/wife and student/teacher and people-pleaser/introvert. She is thinking about writing great things, although she doubts great things often think about writing her. Like you, she was once a child; maybe you too long to be shoeless with a dog in a pasture hunting for nothing and finding everything. Jane remains shoeless as often as possible, but finds walking on rocks increasingly difficult.

Currently a PhD candidate at Illinois State University, Jane has been publsihed in Blue Collar Review, Mother Earth Journal, Poetry Motel, The Flavor of Ink, Elements, Phizzogs and The Truth Lies in the Tell. She is the 2005-2007 Sutherland Fellow in Fiction at ISU where she currently teaches creative writing and/or composition.

Jane offers professional manuscript evaluations, critiques, and line editing.
