Spoon River Creative Writers, SRCW, was founded in the winter of 2004 by Jane L. Carman, who wanted to create a local community of writers able to work together to promote writing, in general, while improving the work of each member.

SRCW was founded on the belief that all writing has a place in society and literature that engages and interests readers is crucial to the quest to save the art of the written word.

At first, meetings were small and member attendance erratic, but with time and perseverance, both our numbers and attendance grew.  Today we are a strong group that meets weekly in Galesburg, Illinois.

SRCW believes that everyone deserves to have a voice and celebrates those voices with this website and through the publication of our journal, The Truth Lies in the Tell, which includes a wide variety of styles from the newcomers to the well-published.
