The End

Are you kidding?

For creative writers there is no end.

Ther can be no end to revision, because as an informed writer you now understand the importance of reworking each sentence, each word. Although you know there will come a day when you send a piece to a journal or publisher and let it temporarily rest. You also know that there will come a time when you let a particular work rest in peace in a pile of steps by which you become a better writer. This means you have matured; it means you've tossed aside your metaphoric blankey or binkey.

There is no end to writing, because every day you do and should want to write something, good or bad; it doesn't matter what you write, just that you write every day and observe the world with a writer's eyes, paying special attention to every detail of the seemingly ordinary.

You have to twist your own arm and dangle your own carrots. No one will do this for you. Do whatever it takes to keep you writing. In the end, the rewards are all yours.

(Did you catch the writerly sin in the previous paragraph? If not, click here. If so, good for you! You are becoming the writer you want to be.)
