Teresa Allen is an aspiring writer, poet, and “creator of new words,” a joke she shares with her husband of thirty years. They devoted their early adulthood to raising three children; their only granddaughter provides the loving laughter that only a child can bring. She discovered her skill for writing in the mid-eighties. One night she picked up a pen and tablet (still her chosen style) and words started flowing from her heart and soul, as if guided by a higher power. This faith, along with troubled times, brings elements of both lightness and darkness into much of her poetry. She dabbled in journalism while writing for the Carl Sandburg College newspaper, The Charger. Acknowledging that creative writing is her true passion, she joined Spoon River Creative Writers in the summer of 2005. This is the type of “group therapy” her often writers blocked mind hungers for.
